We were tasked by NJ-based production studio, Cufflink Productions, to build a highly-targeted social following, primarily on Facebook, in order to educate consumers about their upcoming film and collect an audience that could be converted to sales if the studio chose to self-distribute.

The target demographic was US horror genre fans. We knew from the start that this is a tight knit group and a hardcore niche within the larger film industry. We knew that everything we created and promoted would need to be organic in nature and appeal to this audience in a way that supported their own interests in the genre.
For social coverage, we found a great mix of promotional content from the film, including behind the scenes photos, in-production coverage and screenshots from the final film. We blended these with relevant horror movie news and pop-culture that generated discussion within the horror movie community and about A Place in Hell.
Additionally, we ran campaigns such as the Helloween Countdown, and covered A Place in Hell’s presence at the horror movie convention “MonsterMania”. We created the below posters to support the “MonsterMania” convention of 2014. This was the initial public announcement of the film. We designed and printed these promotional sponsor cards utilizing QR codes in order to promote social interaction. Our main card promoted our contest which required all entrants to like our Facebook page as well as provide their email addresses. We received just short of 30,000 entries.

“We have been using Anchor Social for the promotion of our film, and their experience, creativity and knowledge of digital marketing has vastly expanded our outreach. I highly recommend using their services.”
In just 6 months and by sticking to our game plan, we were easily able to exceed our initial goals. A Place in Hell’s Facebook page grew from nothing to over 59,000 fans with an average growth of over 3,000 fans a month and 30,000 impressions.
Through proper use of hashtags, creative content, and promotional posts, we acquired 718 followers with a monthly average reach of 3,500 on Twitter.
We are continuing to cover the horror movie’s introduction, which recently acquired distribution deals both domestically and abroad! Look forward to seeing the full release in the very near future!
